William Morris Gallery Renewal Project Summer 2026

The William Morris Gallery in Walthamstow is home to the world’s largest collection of William Morris’s work. Its purpose is to share the rich artistic and social legacy of one of Britain’s greatest designers. The Gallery is free and open to all. Opening hours are Tuesday to Sunday, from 10am to 5pm (and bank holidays). As well as its permanent collection, the gallery features several temporary exhibitions each year. The Gallery, located in Lloyd Park, is a great place to visit at any time of year. Check out also the weekly food and farmers market every Saturday, 10am – 4pm, outside the Gallery.

During Summer 2026 the Gallery is closed for a period to enable major refurbishment works to take place. This marks the second phase of a major capital investment programme to improve the building, visitor experience, and interpretation of the collection. Works will take place at the Gallery during August and September with phased re-opening, ahead of the Gallery’s next major exhibition, Earthly Paradise, which opens on 3 October 2026.
